Radio. It’s all about personality isn’t it? Especially where “talk radio” is concerned. No personality, no show. I don’t care how good the guests are. In listening in to the latest episode of Whiskey Bent BBQ In the Pit with Chad Ward, the man… and the show… flat out deliver – both on the personality front and in terms of laying the real deal competition BBQ smack down.
Plain and simple, Whiskey Bent BBQ In the Pit is straight up competition BBQ talk from the perspective of those who know. And we’re not talking about guys who go out and cook three or four competitions a year. Chad Ward and Whiskey Bent BBQ have a rock solid reputation on the national BBQ scene. Throw in the fact that he’s bringing some of the best in competition BBQ onto his show and you have a format that is really hard to beat. Oh – and he leads directly in to Greg Rempe’s BBQ Central Radio Show, which flat out sets the gold standard for BBQ talk radio.
Hands down, the Outdoor Cooking Channel has it going on! Tell you what…. this week’s episode features Matt Barber of Hot Wachula’s, Dave Mauro of the Blue Bloods, and Jason Whitcomb of Team Unknown BBQ is a rock solid show!
Fun, Enjoyable, and Informative
When you listen to Whiskey Bent BBQ In the Pit, you get a big heaping helping of “from the BBQ trail” no BS tell it how it is info. Chad doesn’t let things slide. Shoot, if you know him at all, you know you’re going to get the real deal from tail to squeal! This week’s episode with Matt Barber as a guest host proves that, as Chad explains his views on where Michael Character of Character BBQ (BBQ Pit Wars) factors in among the ranks of true Pitmasters.
All in all, the new format really lends to the authenticity you get with Chad as a person, and in the end that’s what good talk radio is all about.
LIVE! From The Whiskey Bent BBQ Supply Store!
The show is shot from within the Whiskey Bent BBQ Supply store in Lakeland, FL, where folks can come in, get some pro BBQ gear, ingredients, and tools, and learn a little bit about what it takes to really step up their game.
Information wise, Chad goes in deep! Because he’s a proven competition BBQ pitmaster himself, he gets into conversations with teams and other pitmasters that are both informative and highly entertaining! There’s talk about flavor profiles, cookers, judges, and hey – you may learn that one of the top teams in BBQ spent five years as a member of a three piece alternative rock band! (Eh hem… Matt Barber… we gotta talk bud, that’s freakin’ cool!)
If you’re looking to up your competition BBQ IQ, tuning in to Whiskey Bent BBQ In the Pit is a great bet. I’m hard pressed to think of another show that gives it to you straight from the competitive BBQ edge like this one does – and it’s a hell of an intro into Greg’s BBQ Central Radio Show!
